A Talented Young Pinoy

No Doubt – Philippines is populated by extremely talented people. To date, we have contributed stars in the world’s list of constellations of outstanding performers. Lea Salonga, Apl De Ap (Alan Pineda), Regine Velasquez, Charice, Nicole Scherzinger, Billy Crawford, Enrique Iglesias, Bruno Mars, Maria Aragon, and dozens more. We have wowed the world many times and I believe will always be. Philippines have many undiscovered talent yet – including me.

The most popular story today is Charice’s story. Her voice has literally brought her everywhere else in the globe - from Korea, to United States to Europe. She never fails to wow the world. From Ellen De Generes to Oprah to David Foster to Andrea Bocceli and even the late Michael Jackson. A surprise performance with Micheal Jackson with Charice is planned for the latter’s concert. But too bad that due the King of Pop’s sudden death it didn’t went through.

You might have just wondering why Filipinos are extremely talented. I have thousands of reason but I’d like to sum it up into three. There could have been 3 major factors why Filipinos have this severe hunger for showcasing their talents.

Filipino loves showbiz/limelight

We love to talk about celebrities and we love to invade the world of show business. Admit it – everyone wanted to see themselves in TV. One good evidence for this is the ‘phenomena’ of reality shows in the local television. From Pinoy Big Brother to Starstruck to Survivor to Showtime to Talentadong Pinoy and many more. I don’t know whats with our genes that we want to be in a television.

Filipinos love showbiz and idolizes celebrities. Most of us are trying to emulate our idols and fortunately, we are successful in doing so. There is a fan in each of us. And we idolize at least one personality. We love to get into intrigues and that gives revenue to popular names like Boy Abunda, Ricky Lo and Lolit Solis.

Filipinos happy people

We are happy people in the sense that even in the middle of adversity we never fail to smile. Yes that’s true. Even in times of calamity and disaster, we smile and face the world with a positive outlook that we will stand up amidst tragedy.

Filipinos are very emotional

We love the ‘telenobela’ life or rags to riches stories of famous personality. We picture their stories to our own. It gives us hope that one day our own star will shine. This is true with the stories of Sarah Geronimo, Manny Pacquiao and many more.

Here is a video of a talented boy from Clark, Pampanga. I hope that one day; he will be recognized and be discovered. This guy is such a talented boy.

David DiMuzio - The Man on the Viral Youtube Video

A young American singer caught my attention as I was going through the net the other day.  His name is David DiMuzio  , from Charlotte, North Carolina. What I like about this man is he is an American – by look and appeal, but he sings Tagalog songs very well. He has posted several videos of him singing tagalong songs in Youtube. He performs Pop, Rock and Alternative Music.

David started to write songs when he was 11 years old when he has a huge crush to a girl he met on a camp. Unlike any other child, he looks up to musicians as his heroes. His favorite singer is Billy Joel and favorite band is Bon Jovi. When he was 16, he won the International Jugglers Association 'World Championships. He said that juggling and competing in the World Championships gave him something tangible that he could hold on to throughout a really rough childhood. He also added that gravity is always there andhe liked the fact that with enough work he could "defy" it.

David writes his own lyrics and arranges and produces all of his own music. He has also worked and wrote songs for Filipino talents; Nyoy Volante, Mark Bautista, Top Suzara, Jayzon Fernandez of Rivermaya, Geneva Cruz, Arnee Hidalgo and Yassi Pressman of Party Pilipinas.

What I personally like about this guy is he has a great sense of humor. Seeing his biography, I found interesting about him.  He said that he is a ‘Selectatarian’ (It’s like a vegetarian, but he eats things other than vegetables – SELECTIVELY.) He likes the idea of sleeping in his car and he has actually done that for 2 years. He thinks that there’s a certain amount of freedom that comes with knowing that he can sleep in his car and everything will be alright. And guess what – he has never owned a Television in his entire life.

Youtube Superstar - Gabe Bondoc

Almost a year from now, I fell in love with a man I knew in a web world. Not in the momentum that I was romantically in loved, but I was totally blown away by this man’s music. His songs awaken my inert passion for good music. His talent is exceptionally incomparable and his charm and voice can literally ruin someone else’s relationship. Who wouldn’t be in love with this man – Gabe Bondoc.

Gabe Bondoc is an indie – pop/acoustic artist based on San Mateo, California. He rose to fame through his acoustic sessions covering famous songs with his guitar companion. To those who know him you might not be surprise that he is a Filipino. Yes, a full blooded Filipino grew up in the US. He is best known for his One Take Sessions on Youtube has gained attention with his unique song writing skills. He gained a lot of attention with his laid-back attitude, smooth voice and amazing guitar skills. With this extra talented dude, even country superstar Taylor Swift became a fan when he completely revised her popular hit called "Love Story" and re-wrote it in the male's perspective.

Since then, he had a lot of performances all over the west coast More so he has already released two EPs, "gentlemen do not" 2006 and "Hello, my name is Gabe" 2007. 2010 Gabe released his first album called the "Summertime LP" featuring full-length recordings of some of his own songs. Gabe’s musical influences include John Mayer, David Ryan Harris, Jason Mraz, Corinne Bailey Rae and Ryan Leslie. And to taste a little bit music from Gabe, here is his most popular video on Youtube.
