Aside from western artist, Asia’s Kpop group (my favorite) Big Bang were nominated for Worldwide Act    category.  Big Bang amazed the audience by winning the awards. The Worldwide Act category celebrates diversity and the breadth of all the music that MTV has to offer by nominating incredible artists from all corners of the world.

There were two rounds of voting.  First, each region had an opportunity to vote among MTVs choices for the seven artists that best represent the region.  In the Asia Pacific category, in addition to Big Bang,Exile (Japan), Jay Chou (Republic of China/Taiwan), Gotye (Australia), Sia (Australia), Jane Zhang(China), and Agnes Monica (Indonesia) were nominated.

After weeks of voting  Big Bang won for the Asia Pacific region and advanced to the finals along with Abdelfattah Grini (Africa/India/Middle East), Lena (Europe), Restart (Latin America), and Britney Spears (North America).
Due an impressive amount of voting by VIPs and fans all over the world, Big Bang won the coveted award.  They will have the honor of being the first ‘Worldwide Act’ award recipients.
Congratulations Big Bang!

Album Review : Far East Movement - Free Wired

I am indulging this new record I have in my ipod for weeks now. This record makes me groove and dance to their beat. The album is Far East Movement's "Free Wired". This album is the third studio album and major label debut of Asian American electro hop group Far East Movement. This record was released on 12th of October 2010 by Cherrytree record. This album debuted no. 24 in Billboard 200 with 17,000 copies sold. Presently, the album had sold 122,000 copies in the US as of March 2011.

Far East Movement is electro pop group composed of Asian and American members. This group was based in Los Angeles, California and was formed in 2003. The members of the group is as follows:

Kev Nish (Kevin Nishimura) - of Japanese and Chinese descent

Proghrees (James Roh) - of Korean descent

J-Spliff (Jae Choung) - of Korean descent

DJ Virman (Virman Coquia) - of Filipino descent

They put together the first multicultural event in Koreatown, Los Angeles to benefit a drug rehabilitation center in community called "Movementality". Far East Movement also has the distinction of being the first Asian-American group to earn a top ten hit on the Mainstream Pop charts in the United States. The group's genre was as described as Electro hop, Hip Hop and Pop. They have been collaborated with various musicians like Snoop Dogg, Keri Hilson, Bruno Mars, OneRepublic.

Far East Movement also has the distinction of being the first Asian-American group to earn a top ten hit on the Mainstream Pop charts in the United States. Last March 14, 2011, the group had their Manila Concert in Repuliq in Resorts World Manila. And even up to date Far East Movement are racketeering the music charts.

The first single from the album ‘Free Wired’ was released on April 13, 2010, called "Like a G6". It reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. "Like a G6" has made 2 million in sales and reached platinum status. The second official single is "Rocketeer", which features Ryan Tedder from OneRepublic. The album set to explode my innate groove. For sure dance floors will blast hit after hit after hit in this album. This album literally creates a free wired sound that can relate to global audiences. The blends of hip hop, electro and pop musical styles really sound best.

Their biggest hit is ‘Like a G6’ – what does G6 means? The term Like Three 6 in Far East Movement's song, Like a G6 could be in reference to a hip-hop group from Memphis, TN. Their name is The Three (triple six) 6 Mafia. This hypnotic and energetic song really popped up my brain and makes me want to groove while inside the bus. The female voice in the song 'Like A G6' by Far East Movement is DEV. Check her out on Myspace at: www.myspace.com/devishot.

The smooth and soulful record ‘Rocketeer’ is deliciously awesome. There are smooth RnB hits included in the album and my favorites are Rocketeer and Don’t Look Down featuring Keri Hilson. ‘If I was you (OMG) will drive you under spell. This song features Snoop Dogg that just so perfect for club music. You will just find yourself head banging and bet you can’t control your feet to move. You can even hear a girl moaning in between chorus and stanza that makes this song sexy and groovy.

My favorite tracks in this album are: 1.If I was you (OMG)

                                                                  2. She owns the night

                                                                  3. White Flag

                                                                  4. 2gether

                                                                  5. Like a G6

FM’s album can really summed up your dull day. Electro – Hip hop music they gives are just so perfect for pleasuring one’s innate drive for dancing.
